So, I got in a back and forth with someone about how people see Trump. I brought up Jesse James syndrome, where people actually like the criminal behavior and look up to it. There is probably a thrill with the idea you can be that brazenly criminal and just give people the finger and get away with it. They disagreed with what I was saying and said they thought Trump fans did not have this syndrome at all, that they did not see Trump as a criminal, and did not see his crimes at all. They were blind to them and only saw what they wanted to see.
This had me thinking, because it often shocks me and I know those of us who see Trump for what he is, how people can worship him the way they do. On my street the two people at the end of the street still, STILL, have their Trump signs and Fuck Biden signs up. In fact, one guy put up new ones. These people, at least based on their behavior, worship the man, want to be identified with the man, not as Americans. They are not really rooting for the country, they are just rooting for the man, if he wins, they win...even if him winning is not actually good for them.
In the emails Trump sends out to his fans, the messaging is very much about him. A recent one discussed how if you bought his new DOGE t-shirt (which has a picture of he and Musk on it) you would drive the libs crazy by wearing it. By continuing to show you support him, by wearing the shirt. This is pretty bizarre stuff. It is Trump over country for his fans.
DARVO does clearly explain how Trump works his magic on them. One thing that did occur to me though, is it has not hit most of these people yet that they are in an abusive relationship and they are being abused. I mean, as Peter has said here, it really has been a fulfilling for them so far in many ways.
What they seem not to have caught in his campaign this time though was he openly told them, said it out loud to their faces, he does not need them anymore. He only needed them to get elected this one last time. They served their purpose and his goals, his desires, are not their goals and desires. He's fully unleashed now, because he know this is it, the last time he is going to do this. Sure, he is talking about a third term as president, Bannon is still pushing for a third term for him because...well...obviously they can't stand the constitution. I think he knows he can't make a third term though, hell he looks like he will struggle to finish this one. He is physically deteriorating pretty quickly. He looks and sounds wiped out.
So, with all the chips pushed to the middle of the table for this hand, knowing he is not going to get another, he is now really going to betray these people and enjoy doing it. Donald has no mercy for suckers, and he has always seen his voters as huge suckers.
These people, this time around, are about to find out how abusive this relationship they have been in with Donny is. He wants the money, access to all of the money, and that's all he has ever wanted.
He is not in this to make their lives better. The transaction with them, the voters, the red hats, the t-shirt wearing rally goers, is over. He got what he wanted and does not feel he owes them a thing.
They probably will need some counselling as this reality sets in. They are about to see how abusive Don is.
