So, I obviously agree with the Caligula comparison, but one aspect of it that I think about is that Caligula did not have the ability to kill people as easily as Trump does. With the swipe of his sharpie that he signs executive orders with he cut off funding to an AIDS program that was put in place under George W. Bush. A program that was a massive success. The program provided funding to treat people with AIDS and prevent the spread and potential that the disease could come roaring back. He did this amidst cutting off all kinds of funding and likely gave little thought to it. It was a program for people with AIDS, people he would not care about, that were mostly brown people living on the continent of Africa. He would not think about how that program though succeeded not only in treating people but also preventing a reemergence of a deadly disease. Removing the program made the entire world less safe but it also was called a death sentence for 26 million people. Suddenly ending the program, leaving these people without the medicines and treatments it provides, is likely going to start killing people at a rapid rate. One person that could speak out about this is George W. Bush as I believe last year he held a celebration of the program and its success. It was a program with vast bipartisan support because it kept AIDS/HIV in check and prevented the transmission of the disease.
This could rapidly escalate into "endpoints" for 20 million lives. People that relied on this program.
Not sure Caligula could kill 20 million people with a pen. Make no mistake though, as the bodies pile up, these deaths will be on Trump and his executive order. And for what? So, that money could be diverted to some tech bro crony instead. Because if you really believe he is cutting funds to "save money" or "balance a budget" you are smoking some really fine stuff. There is no plan to "save" any money nor to lower the debt, he wants no debt ceiling whatsoever. He is diverting these funds to where he wants them to go as payoffs to himself, friends, and family.
And look, I am just talking about one working, successful program he did this to that will likely kill 20 million people...there are others.
The death toll of the Trump presidency could be astronomical and not to save a dime for this country nor make a single life better but rather to make a few wildly wealthy people even more wildly wealthy.
Endpoints, think about those for a bit. This guy has the power now to start creating endpoints at a rate never seen by mankind.
