I don't think it's an "Any other" question. More it's a "Any other message" question. As long as the DLC (or whatever they are calling themselves these days) have control of the party, funding and messaging, we are going to get similar results.
Biden came and claimed his right to run for a second term, crashed and burned, and we could only give it to Kamala or lose the campaign funds accrued and any precious time we had. The Campaign could have changed up the messaging/platform at this point but did not.
The only other possible route was a brokered convention, which would give the R flying monkeys an opportunity to start throwing dung. That was apparently ruled out in the backrooms. Also, if a progressive like Bernie stepped up during that convention, do you think Pelosi, Clinton, etal would stand for it? Cue The D flying monkeys.
To me it really comes down to a power imbalance.
