: I watched the show yesterday because I was hoping to see DB stuff...
Me too. As a fan of both David and the late Kevin Gilbert, I was interested to hear how they'd be portrayed in a story obviously biased toward Sheryl. I thought they kind of brought up and then quickly got through the whole TNMC era. My only interest was in any mention of David and/or Kevin. I turned off the tv when they started getting into her decision to "stop crying"... Maybe I'm just not sympathetic enough, but I just find it ridiculous that VH1 would find her even remotely interesting enough to do a Behind The Music on.
Her life is just soooooo hard - backup singer for MJ and Don Henley. The rumors! Come on, who would believe that MJ would be interested in her, (or any female for that matter), anyway?!?
The "pain" of her first album not being released? She wasn't dropped, and she was introduced to some of the greatest writers/musicians in LA for an album that was released!
She's been able to write her own ticket from there. I think she's really clever - she knows how to take advantage of every opportunity and play the martyr simultaneously. I'm glad that DB is over this. I'm sure all of the living TNMC have moved on to bigger and better things. (Heck, even KG's posthumous "Shaming of The True" is IMO bigger and better than all of Crow's work put together.) However, IMO, the only interesting thing about her career is the story involving the TNMC.
By the way, I was introduced to her music through buying "Triage". I filled out a survey card that came with the disc, and as my "reward" A&M sent me a cassette of Leaving Las Vegas. That's my entire collection of her music. (Even the record label was trying to use DB to sell her disc.)
