"That person who brought up the abortion story seemed to do so for no particular reason. They justified it by saying what was being discussed had no meaning but that this issue, "their issue", was what was truly important. Then we were fed the propaganda."
Doc,
I was the one who contributed the piece on abortion. I was reacting to the following contribution by David..."He who would sacrifice his freedom for security deserves neither, as Ben Franklin so succinctly put it."
I began to wonder what freedoms I may have to sacrifice with the newly enacted legislation. I imagined that some people may be detained unnecessarily and that others will have their phones tapped. Some may even be deported from the country and some will have their rights trampled in other ways. All of these possibilites didn't begin to compare to the sacrifice an aborted baby unwillingly makes for the sake of a woman's right to choose. What about the right to life? I sat dumbfounded tinking that this goes on in our country and it's perfectly fine while we agonize over some loss of our freedom. I haven't lost anything.
We all see this world from our own perspective and this one jumped out at me and I responded as I did. There actually was a "particular reason" to my post.
