: So, I would be very interested in any original thoughts, theories, or opinions from Dr.Wahoo himself, especially if the WORDS don't cloud the IDEAS.

An original thought huh? Are there any more of those left Gene? Maybe as species, race , society we've used them all up at this point. Maybe not. I'll try but I may not be worthy of such an enormous request. And as if it's not large enough a task to present an original thought you've also asked me not to cloud the idea I present with the words I choose to present it. Words, in this particular forum, being my only means of expressing myself. For you my friend I'll do my best but if I do get a little cloudy at times, forgive me, I'm into my second bottle of wine.
Let me start with an explanation of sorts of why I presented a list of quotations and ideas as if I was channel surfing the contents of my skull. Below this post you'll find some discussion about life in the panopticon, the effect it may or may not have on us and debate over whether or not our government has over stepped it's bounds with regards to our personal freedoms. In the midst of this you'll also find a post that tells the horrific tale of an abortion. A tale that reads like propaganda but none the less left a mark on me after I read it. I say it reads like propaganda because it unfolds itself in such a way that the only reasonable way for any sentient human being to interpret it is from the perspective of witness to the cold-blooded murder of a helpless infant. There is much to consider here and I'll leave that to you but my reaction to this was to litter this board with what you referred to as my own personal mental masturbation. I don't mind the term and let's be honest here, who among us, if we were capable, would not jerk off our minds to bring them to some sort of glorious state of ecstasy to cope with our mundane existence here on this earth? I mean come on Gene; here we are as human beings, capable of perceiving so much but trapped in such an offensive vehicle as the human anatomy presents. It is no wonder Freud presented us as such vicious, disgusting baboons.
I?ll confess I?m a bit of a brooder. I sort of soak things up and they ferment within the confines of my skin. I can?t let go of things as easily as I should and that abortion story began to haunt me. As a way of possibly clearing my head I thought it might be best to fill it with ideas that may inspire it to travel to other distant locals and in the end perhaps allow me to view things in a different light. The set of ideas I left was a bit of a staircase, a spiral staircase perhaps, and a complex one at that. I guess it was left to the architect just how that stairway was composed and what fragile gossamer held it together. I shared the ideas because I thought, maybe, they would inspire others. So in some respects you are correct in asserting that they were notes to myself. Quantum theory, Newtonian shenanigans, the mysterious sense of self, the nature of beauty, existentialism from Pascal, John Coltrane from the liner notes of ?A Love Supreme?, collective consciousness, etc?
Can you tie all of these together? I don?t think the human mind really works in a linear fashion do you?
In a grand search for the meaning of life we travel through our daily existence assigning meaning to all of the smaller things we encounter. We structure our lives and view our progression in a linear way to give it an order we feel comfortable with. Do we agree on this? We obey the rules our cultures and societies deem acceptable because we are trained to do so but not necessarily because they are correct. Would you say this is true? There is no true order to our lives only the vague deception of it we create which is why so often we do not understand each other. We misunderstand another?s vague deception because it?s not the same as our vague deception and hell these things take quite a while to build up now don?t they. We want them to be facts no matter how bizarre or obscene they are. Ok, so these are not very original thoughts I?ll admit. Jesus discusses this topic in the gospels so it really does go back quite a way. Cut me a little slack though because this is how humanity has always moved toward new discoveries, by building on those in our past. Give me some credit here too because I did not directly quote anyone yet now did I.
?The supreme law [of life] is this: the sense of worth of the self shall not be allowed to be diminished? ? Alfred Adler
?Whatever idols man remains rooted to are idols designed precisely to hide the reality of the despair of his condition; all the frantic and obsessive activity of daily life, in whatever country, under whatever ideology, is a defense against full self-consciousness. It is this fundamental falseness at the at the heart of human striving that makes our world dance so frenziedly to such drowning-out music.? ? Ernest Becker
Ok, now I?ve quoted a couple more people. So shoot me. I thought that was funny. All this sort of ties together though doesn?t it? That person who brought up the abortion story seemed to do so for no particular reason. They justified it by saying what was being discussed had no meaning but that this issue, ?their issue?, was what was truly important. Then we were fed the propaganda. When Osama and his boys decided we weren?t paying enough attention to their vague deception of reality we know what happened. Have I presented an original thought yet? I guess not.
How do I find something original to discuss? I could talk about love. That?s not original though. It?s powerful but not original. I could talk about how scientists managed to exceed the speed of light in a laboratory recently. I wasn?t one of the scientists so it really wouldn?t be an original concept on my part. I?m getting cloudy now. I?ll try again later I guess. I have faith in the rest of you though. I may not have come up with an original thought but maybe my rambling inspired one in some of you. Maybe? I have faith?
