Well, I think they did what they could in the moment. When look back at it, I am sure there are things that could be flagged as "could have been done better."
I do think the Democrats have some disadvantages, in that they try to play by the rules, try to uphold gentleman's agreements, follow the law, and maybe did lean to hard into allowing Trump to sink himself.
I admit, I too often felt that not much had to be done beyond allowing Donald to wallow in and blurt his own stupidity.
I realize the guy is a magnet for awful people, he is the shit flies can't get enough of.
I think we have to consider the pendulum though, it continues to swing.
The defeat to a guy as horrid as this guy is very disheartening. It makes us question our fellow Americans and where their hearts are. Particularly when the cruelty kicks in. But who will they blame when he unleashes his cruelty on them?
Yeah, I fully agree it is hard to believe he won. I've said right along, I can't believe we could lose to a guy this obviously dumb and openly corrupt.
Should the Democrats take some blame for that failure? Sure.
I think there are likely Democrats that would have done better than Harris. There are Democrats that probably would have won with ease but we were not in a position to go find them and taking the time to try probably would have ended in the same result.
There were three months left when Harris stepped in and she fell just short. Did she have flaws? Yes, but in the moment, with the time left, I think she was who we had to go with.
