Icon Thought the same thing about Ford

Wow, that's weird .. the world is indeed a circle :) I've had in mind recently the thought to ask anyone else here if they had ever read Richard Ford's earlier stories, and if so did they connect them at all with DB's songs in some subliminal way. That collection in particular, yes. And the title story, "Rock Springs" ... ah, what the hell, I'll grab the book and quote a passage here:

"And I wondered, because it seemed funny, what would you think a man was doing if you saw him in the middle of the night looking in the windows of cars in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn? Would you think he was trying to get ready for a day when trouble would come down on him? Would you think his girlfriend was leaving him? Would you think he had a daughter? Would you think he was anybody like you?"

Yeah, "Hello Mary" puts me in mind of that sort of character as well. Cool that someone else thought it. Fiction and music can intersect in interesting and unanticipated ways. Pretty neat ... Frederick Exley's "A Fan's Notes" also puts me in a similar place..

Anyone else with some fiction<->music connections?
