Firstly, I agree it would be nice to hear more about the music - not being from the US, I get a bit bogged down with the political/intellectual discussions about people I am unfamiliar with.
Secondly, I also love the song "The Crash" - the lyrical images are so strong - you can see the girl casually clambering into the car, holding her hand out of the window to feel the breeze, and then the ensuing tragedy unfolding. I can't help feeling it would be a good road safety campaign song/filmclip? Where I live, we've lost 5 teenagers in the last few months in road accidents - all due to them being "far, so far from sober" and driving "way too fast" - plus a bit of fatigue from too much partying. The fact that the melody is so beguiling just might get them to watch the message?
Onto another song - just when I thought I was getting the gist of "Paddy Chayefsky's Dead", I realise I have no idea what prompted it's writing. My impression from the lyrics was that this was a man who had committed suicide in 1996, whereas I discovered yesterday that Chayefsky died in 1981 from natural causes (if you can call cancer that...). Could you explain your motivations David? Were you using him as a metaphor for all good things being dead, or was there a person that you knew that did die in 1996, or was it all fiction?
I too would love the opportunity to hear more music - any thoughts on getting the unreleased D+D stuff out or more solo work?
Thanks for being there,
Kathryn.
