Hello!
I just found the site and message board yesterday, and I'm so glad I did. I've tried searching for David Baerwald on the internet, and this never came up as a hit. I found my way here through the Kevin Gilbert list. I've been a fan of David's since Boomtown, but I really caught on when I heard "Hello Mary". At the time, there was a local radio station that actually played it! Of course, they are no longer in existence. I'm an amateur bass player, so my thing is more to play along. However, when I do "ruin" a song by singing along to it in the car, the one I most prefer is "Walk Through Fire".
Incidentally, my musical tastes tend towards jazz fusion and progressive rock. I'm not much into vocals or vocalists - with the obvious exception of DB. What I really dig is the awesome lyrics - something actually being said, and the "real" voice. Having tried to sing along, it's obvious to me that DB has the chops, but he sounds sincere and real. I don't want to put down the people who do all of the vocal acrobatics - it just doesn't appeal to me.
Again, thanks for this site and message board! I'm glad to now be able to keep current with what David's doing.
