Hello message board!
I'm writing you from the Palindrome, where I have spent the last few weeks cooking, cleaning, running errands, occasionally being enlisted for a musical duty, and just soaking up the Venice atmosphere. David has been an incredibly gracious host, and he's right, there's a whole lot of exciting stuff happening here. Of course, maybe it's just all exciting to me, since I've never really been around songwriting sessions, demo recordings, and all that studio stuff before.
Also, I'm very glad that you like Carol Noonan, Keith (it looks so strange without the "from NC"). I really think she's just an amazing artist, and has gotten just about no recognition at all. It's a shame.
Another suggestion of an unknown that I might give is a band called "100 Watt Smile," but they're quite a bit more esoteric, and it takes a certain sensibility to like them. They're a sort-of hard-rock band, except they have a violin player, and bizarro lyrics, and their songs often sound like two songs smashed into one. But they're really interesting (and DO have a female lead vocalist) if you're looking for something....different.
Well, that's all here. I'm leaving the Palindrome next week, but I must say it's a really great place, a relaxed and homey recording studio (what an odd concept, but it's true), and huge thanks to David for hiring me on to be the "vibe superintendent."
