David... you've researched this more than anyone I know, I'd be interested in your take on this from a historical perspective. Do you feel this is a realistic outcome, a series of autocratic incompetent overreaches that, provided they are non-fatal wounds, allow for a course correction once the masses realize the emperor has no clothes. Or do the arcs of history reveal this as a naive and an unlikely hope?
