I think if the country does indeed start breaking in half, the first real problems will start in the military.
Which is not to say that horrible things aren't going to happen at an ever increasing rate amongst us civilians. Example: About three-four days after the election, in an old school diner where I sometimes eat breakfast, a guy about 75 yo throws a hard roll at his server's head, while screaming, "Haven't you heard? You belong to us now!" or something very close to that. Almost everyone who works in this long-standing icon of a diner is Latino.
The very worst among us are feeling their oats.
