So, the sort of hilarious question people ask about this nomination is "Is it real?"

Of course, it is real but the question is why did Trump nominate him. People inside the Trump campaign had discussed a list of people to be AG, Gaetz was not on it. Then suddenly, with Gaetz handing in his resignation from Congress because a rather terrible ethics report on him was on the verge of being released, Trump jumps on the internet and tells people he wants to make Gaetz the Attorney General. 

Some people say Trump really does want Gaetz in the position, because Trump does like guys that sex traffic teen girls and have done stuff as shitty as him. The thought is he just feels more comfortable around sleazy people. Gaetz is a well know sleazebag, and generally seen by his fellow Republicans as one of the biggest assholes in Congress. Remember he triggered the mess they had when he got Kevin McCarthy ousted and they had a huge brawl over who would be speaker while the war in Gaza began to rage. 

If there is one thing pretty much everybody that know Gaetz agrees on it is that he can't be trusted and he is going to do something to draw attention to himself. He's been spending a lot of time with Trump lately, almost daily they say. Supposedly "advising" him. 

So, Donald would love a guy in charge of the Justice Department that has stuff he wants hidden as much as Donny has stuff he wants hidden and would do whatever Don tells him to do. Not likely the Senate would confirm him though.

So, did Donald make this nomination not because he expected to get Gaetz the AG job but rather to help a friend that is a well known asshole that molested teen girls and trafficked them? Seems the more likely story.
