I don't think tRump was the target.

Before you go off, hear me out.  The only thing we know for sure about Crooks is that he fits the mass shooter profile like a glove.  Loner, Bullied, etc.  His father bought the gun legally and had it in the house - we'll find out if it was stored in a safe (I'm guessing not) and if Crooks had the combination.  We'll also find out about his home life (I'm guessing not good).  AR's are the weapon of choice for mass shooters.  In the current charged environment, any mental health issue gets charged up, and I think Crooks had a boatload.  The rally was a target of opportunity - he just wanted to kill a lot of people and die.  If not the rally, then a Walmart, or a county fair, or a city park.  He wanted to go out with a bang.

My concern is that the R's are going to use this to the fullest extent to target D's.  We can already see this happening (MTG & Bobert are just the start.  We are in for a rough ride for the next three months.
