Ridiculously, other Trump lawyers in the past have argued that if a president is impeached, that he then CANNOT be prosecuted in a court of law, claiming that would fall under the "double jeopardy" standard, where a person cannot be prosecuted for the same crime twice. So, his lawyers previously have argued that if a president is impeached, he then CANNOT be prosecuted in a court of law. They claim, that would be double jeopardy. So, the exact opposite of the argument that he must be impeached BEFORE he can be prosecuted in a court of law. Obviously, each set of lawyers Trump has had does not pay attention to what his other lawyers have said.
So, in Trump world, you can't be prosecuted in a court of law unless you are impeached first, but also, you can't be prosecuted in a court of law if you have been impeached because that is double jeopardy.
Insanity and very dangerous insanity.
