Among the many artifacts that inspired The Fire Agent was a little notebook that my grandfather carried around on his travels, a wondrous little thing of mystery, packed with clues. Among them was a card from Bailey Willis himself, along with a similar card from Alger Hiss. So I figured out who Bailey Willis was, and kept digging.
