It was good to have those opposing voices as it created more interesting and sometimes amusing conversation. I mean most of us here agree on most points so while we can have good discussions, we don't have the WTF factor that Pat and Marc brought. I mean, I can guess what most of us here will think or feel when something happens in the news, but I have no clue what Pat or Marc think of Trump going full Hitler for example.
Maybe you are correct and they don't really feel anything about it or it is spun in their minds to mean something entirely different than how we see it. I mean, 20 years plus asking direct questions to these guys generally yielded answers that were like somebody giving you baseball scores from the 1940s...like what does that have to do with the price of eggs?
"Pat, what do you think of this speaker thing?"
"Long game, Reg, long game."
"What?"
"You can't be strong if you don't play the long game."
"What is the long game in this?"
"Think about it, Reg."
Honestly, I was baffled a lot.
I can't recall when Dale was last seen here. I think it was before Trump was even running the first time. So, I don't remember if he ever commented on if he supported Trump.
Here's a couple funny comments I remember from Pat and Marc. Pat said he does not watch Fox News. I don't know if he means he never did, or he doesn't anymore. That's odd and funny because often times he seemed to be quoting something verbatim from one of the Fox News hosts.
Marc in one discussion I had with him told me he was a centrist in his politics. I thought this was weird because he told me this after telling me he was voting for Donald Trump in 2016 to "throw the grenade" because our government needed to be blown up. That's not very centrist, that's mighty radical. Perhaps he and I have a different definition of centrist.
So, he liked Trump's promise to drain the swamp, but all Trump did was make sure the swamp overtook the entire country. It's all swamp now and Republicans do absolutely nothing but release a whole lot of swamp gas while doing all they can to make sure they accomplish nothing at all. I'm pretty sure the goal is to get people to quit government (and they are) and create a situation where nobody but nuts like Marge Greene and George Santos are running for these positions.
Marc claimed that he does not like liars or people that lie to him. Trump made it policy for Republicans to lie every damn day to Republican voters and they are sticking with that. So, did he flip flop on that and now he likes liars? It cost Fox News a lot of money because they spread those lies. It seems to be going to cost them a lot more money. Trump's lawyers just recently said in court that Trump should not be impeded by the courts in lying to his voters and I can't help but wonder what Marc thought of that.
So, it would be interesting to hear from Pat and Marc again but really only if they wanted to provide their thoughts on this stuff. Pat is in Texas, Marc is in Ohio I think. These are states where votes really count. I am just curious to know where they stand.
Pat was a DeSantis guy, I believe, until he saw that DeSantis had tanked. Then I think he said he thought Trump would be the guy again for the Republicans. I don't know if he was saying he supported that or he just thought that would be the outcome.
I think the Republican party itself is now split between Trump and Nikki Haley. One of them now appears likely. If Trump ends up in a jail cell, I do wonder if that impacts his giant lead over his fellow Republicans...which honestly is one of the dumbest things I have ever said because really, all of the Republican party should be telling him to get lost after he did his Hitler imitation.
But they are not, I can only assume because some of them love the idea of a new Hitler. Here's Maddow coming to the same conclusion we already discussed here...Republicans need to step up.
