I have not fallen for the guy just found him, until now, an interesting person to watch. I did not think he would go independent, though some said it was inevitable, because he promoted himself so hard as a Democrat. 

I do not like his shift to running as an independent, unless he and the Democrats have worked out that it will help them. If they agree on that and his run is more damaging to Republicans and Trump, then fine. 

I can't say that is the case though and so, I would prefer he stay out of the race if he is not going to remain a Democrat. I know the wager here is the Democrats have branded him a nut, antisemite, anti-vaxxer enough that most Democrats want nothing to do with him...but, I fear that may not be entirely true. 

I worry that the only thing that makes Trump a viable candidate is an independent that can syphon votes from the Democrat. I don't think Cornel West is much of a concern, but Bobby Kennedy was getting as much as 20% in polling at one point, that is a concern. His numbers dropped once they started to hit him hard but that drop is variable. 

I don't think there is a path for an independent to win a presidential race so, all I think RFK Jr. could do is play spoiler. I am 100% against that. I do not think he should damage the Democrat in that way, particularly since he claims to be loyal to the party. 

Personally, I think any Democrat beats Trump, probably by a good margin. Trump is just a horribly weak candidate. Though, I know both Biden and Harris, if she steps in, are not the strongest candidates, as a country, I think we have had enough of Trump. His base appears to be constantly shrinking. 

I want the Democrats to hold on to the presidency. So don't worry about me. I have said I don't think RFK Jr. can get near the presidency at this point and to some extent, when he made his independent announcement, I think that is what the Democrats preferred. 

What I hope happens is he sees where his numbers are at, that he can only garner maximum 30% of the vote if he does well, and then he drops out. Unless someone much smarter than me has determined Kennedy running as an independent helps Biden or whomever the Democrat is...I can't see that at the moment though. It's risky in my mind, in the end I hope Bobby remains loyal to the Democrats and does what is best for them.
