Icon I'm wrong a lot, Meadows testified against himself...

Well, where it seemed to be just a procedural hearing to see if Meadows can get his case moved from state to federal court, in a truly shocking turn of events...he ended up taking the stand and testifying and answered questions for some 4 hours. That's a holy shit train wreck moment. It really did several things to Meadows legal future that he probably should have been advised about by his attorney...he now has testimony on the record, he can't take back, and in it he essentially fully admits to the crimes he committed.

That's truly a WOW!

Now, I have no idea what the judge will rule on this and really should not bother making a guess because...well...I get a lot of stuff wrong. Listening to lawyers discuss it, good lawyers, I ended up more confused than I was to start. One lawyer said the judge may bump it into federal court just because he knows Meadows will appeal his ruling, and if he loses in the 11th Circuit he will appeal again to the Supreme Court, which because it is corrupt will overrule and send it to federal court. Wacky!

Why would a federal judge make a ruling based upon the idea that the Supreme Court is corrupt or that the 11th Circuit is mostly Republican appointed judges? I don't get it. That makes no sense, they rule on the law, not on speculation that other judges will overturn...don't they?

I guess the thought here is this, Meadows' lawyers know he is screwed and committed the crimes he is accused of, so they believe they have a bad case and can't win. So, their only hope is to try to get the charges against Meadows dismissed under the idea that interfering and trying to help rig an election was part of his duties as Chief of Staff. They figure getting those charges dismissed might have a better chance in a federal court than a state court and so they threw the hail Mary and just put their client on the stand in hopes it moves the judge to bump the case to a federal court. The huge risk being, they have now also made it more likely that if it goes to a federal court Meadows has testified, in his testimony has admitted to the crimes he was charged with, and so is now more likely to be found guilty...unless he gets super lucky and gets a federal judge that really wants to help him and Trump out.

Meadows still has an out, he can testify against Trump. If he makes an agreement to do so, he likely will not go to jail. If his hail Mary does not work, and it looks shaky to me, but I am not a lawyer, he's looking at, I think, 5 years in jail. If he testifies against Trump, he and his family live the rest of their lives under death threats from MAGA loons.

From the accounts I have read, Meadows testimony went awful yesterday, he basically admitted to his crimes, seemed confused about what his job was, and is going on a Trump/Nixon theory that if the president does it, it is not illegal. Being that my comments keep coming up wrong, just flip a coin on the outcome of this insanity.
