A large part of my family is from India, I married Julia whose dad is from India, so I have relatives here and in India and it is interesting to get their perspective. The family that is here, seem to think he is a bit of a nut and a liar. He's most definitely a liar and did not take Bill's open advice to uncouple from Trump. During the debate last night he called Trump the greatest president in American history...a whopper of a lie that I really believe he knows is a lie but...he has to say it to try to win over MAGA nuts. The issue for all these Republican candidates is they all want to avoid telling the truth about Trump...except Christie and to some extent Asa Hutchinson who doesn't matter anyway because he struggles to get even 1% of the vote.
The word seems to be that most people seem to feel that Ramaswamy had the strongest debate performance. I did not watch it but saw some highlights and discussion and overall, Vivek is said to have done the best but his fatal flaw, his giant mistake, was calling Trump the greatest president in our history because if that is how you feel, why would you run against him. Also I think he told a giant lie to Bill Maher when he said he would not agree to be Trump's VP. Of course he would. If you think he's the greatest president and he asks you to be his VP, why on earth would you say no?
Overall, it is a major issue for all the Republican candidates that they have to lie in order to win over MAGA voters. These voters demand to be lied to and you can't win a primary without them.
I also think Ramaswamy will have an issue winning the racist contingent of the MAGA crowd into his camp, they will not vote for a brown guy. This is why the only one of the other Republican candidates Trump endorsed was Tim Scott, he know the guy can't win and can't take his racist voters.
I think there are plenty of Republican voters that would vote for Vivek, but the majority of them probably are not from the MAGA crowd.
