Icon The two parties and their problems...

Yes, I mean I read that New York Times article and it seems a fairly crappy hit piece, which is where they are going right now. A careful reading of it reveals they don't really discuss at all what RFK Jr. actually said, they present things in a light to make him appear a "conspiracy nut" which is the primary strategy to dismiss him. The article attempts to carefully appeal to issues that may be important to Democrats. The one about gender dysphoria is so poorly done it is embarrassing how obvious it is they are attempting to slander him. Ending with the sentence from the CDC:

“Most people are not exposed to atrazine on a regular basis.”

This is a flat statement not denying anything that Bobby said but rather just giving the weak and empty argument that "most people" are not exposed to it often. I kind of abhor pieces like this because of the goal within them and that they shame the press and people that will publish them. Which leads to them being cited by other people in the press.

Yes, both parties are not presenting their best and brightest for the 2024 presidential election and this causes much anxiety in the public. I understand this. I don't think the Republicans have their candidate yet because Trump is by far their leader and DeSantis, who was their second, is now cratering and they doubt he will make it much further. They are struggling to come up with a candidate, but in order to do so, they need to find a person that is not espousing loony far right nonsense that does not appeal to 80% of the country. They are sifting through the remaining candidates and trying to find one that works. Huge problem for them if Trump somehow does not bow out because of all of his legal problems because he is still viewed as the leader of the party...and he is a repugnant criminal and so, that means the party, if they support him, are also repugnant criminals.

For the Democrats, well, they have Biden. He is quite old. He occasionally looks a bit doddering physically but he speaks well and delivers speeches well. He's not a great debater but I don't know what the future status of presidential debates is anyway at this point. I see people on both sides of the aisle attempting to avoid them. Sad, because I think we do need to hear out candidates speak. We can't have people making up their minds based on social media arguments amongst themselves.

To go back to RFK Jr., I think what his candidacy is openly revealing are the weaknesses the Democrats have, the Republicans don't reveal this about them because they are too much of a pathetic mess to do so, but Bobby is...and it is causing some Democrats to behave horribly. To the extent, for me, that I am disgusted by people like the Democrats that made total fools of themselves at Jim Jordan's sham hearing the other day.  There is no need of this and it will turn people off and it will lose them votes. I keep telling Democrats I know this is a bad way to go because that arrogance is a deadly trait in politics and it will lead to a guy like Scott Brown getting elected here in true blue Massachusetts. Sure, just one term but with the ideas and promises the Republicans are making...we can't have them win the presidency.

If only presidential candidates spoke as intelligently and as eloquently as this:
