Trump does not really like a debate because a debate means allowing others to present their case. He hates that and does not want to deal with it. He's not a debater. He just wants to ramble on and on about himself, how great he is, and tell everybody they are a victim and he is the only guy that can save them.
It's pretty bizarre that anybody wants to go to one of his events and listen to that nonsense.
This is going to be interesting. Trump basically does one thing well and that is destroy Republicans that go against him. Essentially, you are going to have to be a really strong personality to face him and be willing to go all out at him as he tries to humiliate you. DeSantis does not have these things in his bag. He is a weak and lousy personality, has zero charm, hates people, and is totally gutless and will shrink into a fetal position once Trump enters the room. It would be funny to see them debate because of how brutal Trump would be to little Ron. I do not think they will ever get on a debate stage together because it does not benefit either of them.
We can hope to see it but I think DeSantis was pondering not running this time and he probably should have stuck to that idea. He is won election on being a Trump doormat. The doormat now running against the guy that wipes his feet on it is a really shitty idea. DeSantis I think held announcing until the rumors began to emerge that Donald was going to be charged with a bunch of other crimes. I think his hope is that Trump gets totally destroyed by these coming indictments that he can go around him.
The issue is, the people that Ron is trying to appeal to, MAGA morons, only get more excited to back Trump when he is charged with criminal behavior. So, not really going to work. Ron will be dead to them, meaning dead to maybe 40% of Republican voters.
Also Ron is a disaster right now. Even people in Florida are catching on to how much of a scumbag he is. It allowed Jacksonville to elect a Democrat mayor. Disney is dunking on him and Republicans openly see how dumb that battle is. So, Ron is shooting himself in the foot, is not liked on a national level, he has been aligning himself with all the wrong people. The anti-abortion extremists, racists, and conspiracy nuts. That might have worked in Florida, on a national level, they think this guy is an ass. So, you want to appeal to the MAGA morons, sure go ahead, it will lead you to the same place as Trump...meaning the sane Republicans and independents will want nothing to do with you and won't vote for you. So, you won't become president.
He's got to bring all that baggage into the ring with Trump who will beat him silly with all that while Ron tries to not say anything bad about Donny so his MAGA people don't get angry with him. We've already seen how lost Ronny is every time Donny gives him a slap upside his head. It's pathetic.
So, if the Republicans could find someone on their team to take out the Donald they probably would have a shot at beating Biden. However, the line-up they have going against him is beyond pathetic. Nikki Haley's campaign is falling apart. Mike Pence is going to announce but the MAGA crowd would prefer to see him dead than voter for him. Tim Scott can't get 1% of the Republican vote. The other people that are in the race already are absolutely worthless because the Republican voters don't give a flying crap about them. Chris Christie could get in...oh boy, that's a car crash waiting to happen. Pompeo was at least smart enough to be the first one to run away.
Trump could be lying on the mattress in his jailcell enjoying his own farts and still beat all of these idiots.
They built this monster, now the Republicans have to deal with him. And they both can't and won't. How can you run someone against him when you have most of the Republican party out there still cheerleading for the guy?
Their best hope is that he suddenly drops dead because his voters don't care about any of the crimes he has committed. In fact, they want him to commit more crimes.
