Great stuff Reg!

In addition I'd say that I think the problem Fox has is the problem all the so-called republicans face, namely that they have created a monster, and their base now demands a steady and uninterrupted diet of belligerent obeisance to Trump, which can only be sustained by ever-more elaborate lies.

Picture them as drug addicts--as long as they keep their fix up, they can stay in the bubble. If they're rich enough, they can stay in that bubble forever, like Keith Richards said, "I don't have a heroin problem, I have plenty."

Until reality intervenes, at which point they behave like all addicts deprived of their fix do. They riot, they claw, they will kill their mother, and anyone who tries to get in the way of that fix will meet the honey badger, who just doesn't give a shit.

But to function in the real world, companies, media orgs and political parties have to maintain some contact with reality, as Fox just learned, and soon Newsmax and OAN will learn that, too.  Tomorrow Trump's E. Jean Carroll's rape/defamation suit begins, Fani Willis is indicating that July 11 is the beginning of drop dead time for the Georgia election crimes, Jack Smith is making interesting moves. The Smartmatic/Fox suit is coming, and

"unlike Dominion, Smartmatic is suing multiple hosts and Giuliani as individuals, in addition to Fox. The company is seeking at least $2.7 billion in damages, more than three times the size of Fox’s recent $787.5 million settlement with Dominion last week. And the case will be tried in New York state court, rather than Delaware."

Reality is coming to the Republicans, whether they like it or not, and that's dangerous for everybody. This community of addled, gun-crazy addicts has come to view this as an apocalyptic war between good and evil, between God and Satan, that this will be the 'last election,' and this notion is cheered on by their leaders, who also see it as probably the last chance to achieve their long-desired goal of creating a Christo-fascist state here, because they have shown their hand. People are seeing it.And that's good. J6 was a real wake-up call. For the first time, one gets the sense that democratic leaders are aware of what we've been dealing with here, I feel them putting together a map to the landscape of the powers behind this. Our people sense it, are fighting voter suppression like never before. We can beat these people.

But it's not a gimme. As dumb as the republican rank and file is, the real string pullers, the heirs of Paul Weyrich, the CNP, the Koch network, etc are extremely smart. This has been a long period of preparation for them, and if they fail now, it's lights out for them, and they know it. They will fight with everything they have, and they have a lot.
