Icon Bill Maher's Indifference To Suffering

I am a regular watcher of Bill Maher and I usually agree with him. Friday night's show was a real disappointment in that he and Bari Weiss prattled on how they were so over Covid. They cavalierly expressed the need to get it all behind us and return to normal. I thought they were incredibly indifferent to the suffering still playing out in ICUs across the country, and the devastating toll it's taking on families and the valiant healthcare workers who have borne the brunt of this pandemic. We all want this to end, and yes, it's justifiable to relax some restrictions now, and more as things further improve, but it ain't over yet. Tens of thousands of Americans will die in the coming months, and many more will be disabled.

On a positive note, I was just driving around, fueled by Panera coffee, and listening to John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton! Such joyous music they made in 1966! And yes, I know, Clapton has said some incredibly racist things, and has been a cranky dickhead of late, but 55 years ago, he and his fellow Bluesbreakers were smoking!
