I'm with you on that, Peter.  He is perhaps the most ego-driven, self-centered, thoughtless US politician I've seen in my life (I've seen others who were similarly bad or even worse in other countries - Geert Wilders of Netherlands and Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and perhaps also Jair Bolsonaro in Brasil right now).  I'm OK with power changing hands and different types of remedies being tried at times.  I suspect the balance and accountability inherent in that outweighs any potential wrongs from bad policy decisions on either side.  (Yes, I'm essentially saying that I suspect something like a 24-year unbroken run of Democrats in power would and could potentially be WORSE for us than was 4 years of Trump.)

It's kind of fun watching Cruz get cruz-cified this week.  It was a long time coming, and he absolutely had ambitions of being an eventual Republican president.  This issue puts him MUCH further from that goal, and that's a good thing.  He lives only about 15 miles from me.  I do know people who know him.  They don't like him either.
