I've long observed that many of the "religious" here in Texas (especially Southern Baptists) are immensely hypocritical about that faith.  They loudly promote it, but the certainly don't always live it.  They've been at the center of the power structure here for so long (and clearly benefit from it) that they've kind of deceived themselves into thinking it's about religious principle when for them it's really about power.  This is blatantly obvious to an observer.

(That said, I do have some friends who are are pretty devout Southern Baptists who are NOT so much like this.  They seem to actually live their faith, treat people with kindness, volunteer time, etc.  They exist.  But I'll bet they also vote Republican.  Dems might want to think about that.  Do they currently appear to be a better option than Trump-ism?  I would say so.  Do they actually appear to be capable in governance?  Not so much.  I'll point to the asinine and utterly unsuccessful support of the Arab Spring "revolutions" as evidence one - a way in which Obama/Clinton/Samantha Power made MY life significantly less secure).
