It is interesting to note some differences from the response to Rodney King in 1992. Of course, King was initially and very aggressively resisting arrest so that was different. But in that case, and even among conservative acquaintances, I didn't hear any equivocation about the fact that the officer had to be clearly in the wrong. There does seems to be some slow movement on how those issues are perceived in the "societal average" sense.
