Watching the morning coronavirus briefing I get a picture in my head of the middle scenes of Macbeth and Hamlet, warning of the tragedies to come while one of the professionals are at the microphone; then here comes the Sugar Plum fairy in a fancy pink above-the-knees costume, tripping whimsically across the stage, a campaign rally smile promising the audience peace, prosperity and a prophet from God to come.
