We simply can't dismiss considering that because of Trump's mental illness, Putin, with whatever he has on him, has been able to enlist Trump to do his bidding.

Similarly, Un has learned that Trump's will is swayed by appearing to kiss his ass, hence the results of the Singapore summit.

Otherwise, it's difficult to see Trump's treatment of our allies making any sense.

My only hesitancy to the above is that Secretary of Defense, Mattis, a scholar, appears to go along with Trump's idiocy: massively increasing defense spending, coupled with, what appears to me, totalitarian impulses, that left unchecked, could destroy our democracy, a certain goal of Putiin. Not just ours, but around the world.

My only hope is that behind the scene, Mattis is taking steps to offset the damage Trump inflicts.
