I couldn't agree more. Having daughters in their late teens/early twenties I know that many of their friends have contemplated suicide and many more have mental health issues. Our elder daughter has anxiety that impacts her physical health.

We have a war history museum and many of our visitors are veterans. Vietnam Veterans in particular show the signs of stress relating to their service but all have seen and done things that stay with them throughout their lives.

Our government makes a lot of noise about supporting veterans but I'm not sure that the help gets to where it is really needed. Our Special Service Regiment personnel are prime targets for trial by media when civilians have been killed during their operations. Those high up in the RSL (the organisation supposed to assist returning veterans) seem more interested in lining their own pockets and building impressive edifices than helping veterans.

You're a good friend Fenway. I hope your family member stays well and gets the ongoing help they need.
