Just got back from Singapore at 1 a.m. today and watched Boyhood on the
flight home. As with other posters here, seriously underwhelmed! It went
for a long time and aside from the novelty of there being the same cast
filmed over a 12 year period showing obvious changes with time, the story
was rather depressing and didn't seem to go anywhere. As a mother of two kids - one who has already flown the coop and the next
in her final year of school after which she too will head off to
University, I felt some empathy with Patricia Arquette's question at the
end "Ïs that all there is? I thought there'd be more". Having said that, my
life in no way parallels her character.
