Icon Re: The capacity for forgiveness, or not...

Peter,

It's the letting go of hate wracking, hate drizzling, hate debilitating stress that forgiveness addresses. The human body hasn't evolved to live with hate. The hunter-gatherer killed its adversary, ending hate. The farmer-mediator, living up to his name, brought the enemy unto his fold, able to feed him without having to fight over plenitude, unwinding hate.

Astraddle hate-fueled high blood pressure, alcoholism, obesity, diabetes, divorce, fights at soccer stadiums, and other self-flagellating scourges, revenge still needles us into writing our own epitaph, "I'll get even with that son-of-a-bitch."

Forgiveness presupposes, damn, what's that word?
