Greetings:

I owned my own printing business for ten years PERFIK GRAPHIX. I still have the name, but I am no longer in the commercial printing business.

In the shop I was the lead graphic designer and also sales. When you are self-employed, you wear many hats. I ended up doing everything from meeting with the Director of Communications for the Buffalo Sabres and then go from that meeting and stuff envelopes all afternoon. Whatever needed to be done.

Also, because I have a disability, my business had minority business enterprise designation from the federal government. I had people calling me for work. That was because by law they had to give a certain percentage of all their work to a minority business.

I did printing for the US Government Printing Office, the American Lung Association, Buffalo Sabres, Sportservice, Delaware-North Companies, MOOG Aerospace, LTV Corp, --- these were all my biggest accounts. In all, my own personal client book was about 120 different businesses.

For you computer geek designers out there --- this is my setup:

Apple Macintosh G4 Dual 1.4 GHz Processors with 2 GB RAM Dual 23-inch and 20-inch display monitors - flat panels six channel surround system Altec-Lansing. Wacom Graphics Tablet. Dual DVD Burners

My design software consists of:

Adobe InDesign Adobe Acrobat Adobe Photoshop Adobe Photoshop Elements Adobe ImageReady

Pro Tools Sound Studio (.AIFF Editor) Audio HiJack Pro

Palm PDA's

Apple iPod

48-bit scanner and color printer (9600 dpi)

For my writing software, I use Microsoft Word and publish the documents in Adobe Acrobat and also in Adobe InDesign for camera-ready layout.

I am also a fanatical SCREEN SAVERS viewer! (I'm a fan of the BIG RED J!!)
