I have lived in Kent, OH the last 10 years. I grew up several miles west of here. I got my bachelors at Kent in 91. I also attended the 20th anniversary commemoration of the shooting.

Kent is a lovely town with a lot going for it. They have made many strides over the last decade to improve the city. The events of May 4th seem to be slowly fading into the past. When I was a student it was 16 years after the event and it was still a part of the daily conversation. I don't know how much the students talk about it anymore.

I visited the site last year, for the first time since I graduated. It was as if it was frozen in time. Taylor Hall is still there. The pagoda, and the Drumm sculpture of course.

Sometime it's hard to believe this town I live in was the site of American history, no matter how tragic.
