and i don't think I've given up on the democratic process at all. I've seen a lot of great things happen in my lifetime: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which neither Ron nor Rand Paul support), a far more tolerant and progressive America re: women's rights and gay rights, small, incremental steps toward the expansion of health care to the uninsured (still woefully inadequate), greater environmental protections, the list is lengthy, and perhaps not lengthy enough but I still have faith that we can change for the better.

That's why it's important to elect non-ideologues to office: people who aren't intolerant of others, who can't work with people who differ in their opinions, or in the case of the Pauls, strict interpreters of the Constitution ... or at least their version of it.

it really is a luxury to be elected over & over and hold your little seat for three decades. You know you can safely pontificate all you want without producing much of anything. Shit I'd like to see Bernie Sanders elected. Ain't gonna happen ....
