To pass the time..until sleep (early to rise) …I was singing the National Anthem (hum-ditty-dumm) tryin to fit `complicit` and `spineless` into the lyrics…somewhere. It.. just ..didn’t ..fit. Anywhere.

..Tried it in the Canadian National Anthem too (having learned it during the Winter Olympics). Didn’t fit in there either.

There doesn’t seem to be anywhere in any nation’s legacy for (illicit) complicity ..or spinelessness. ..Nor tyranny ..nor impunity from prosecution for high crimes, for that matter. Nowhere at all. Not in any anthemic song about any worthwhile nation ……or playground …….or ant hill.

& yet somehow they are definitives of our now. Hmmmm.
