Yes indeed... album of the year for me! and her best bud, Johnny Flynn is a close second. Her boyfriend Marcus Mumford (Mumford & Sons) has already made a huge splash across the globe. Laura's been part of this burgeoning folk scene in London for awhile. They have embraced Nu-Folk tag and don't mind folks referring to them as a collective or scene. Her new disc was produced by Ethan Johns of Ray LaMontagne and Kings of Lyon fame. Though she doesn't realy rock-out folks! They are curently working on a follow-up for the end of the year. Laura was nominated for a Mercury Prize for her debut and I wouldn't be to surprised if her second disc snagged the top prize this year! Al is a big fan as well and she's touring Australia right now, while he's in the UK (go figure!)If you have the cash flow, pick up the UK limited edition, it includes a lovley DVD featuring hi-lights and interviews from a concert Laura did last year with her musician friends. Plus, if possible, hunt down a compilation called "Communion" which is out on the UK indie label Communion. It's a great starter for the current UK Nu-Folk genre.
