The short answer is, it depends on the album. They're as varied as the day is long. The medium answer is that you're not missing anything. SW appeals to a very narrow population bandwidth, of which the demographic is not distinguished by musical appreciation but rather some dark ineffable quality in the listener that inexplicably resonates when Scott's atonal and discordant "blocks of music" (as he puts it) do their thing. In my humble opinion, the long answer is also worth exploring and is best explained through the very well-made documentary, "30 Century Man". Coincidentally, it just started making a run on the Sundance channel this week. I do highly recommend it for a more complete picture of an extremely enigmatic artist.Now... I've always wondered if Mr. Baerwald had any opinions about Scott Walker's music if he cares to chime in.Brent
