Thanks for the advice. Like I said - everything seems to be working just fine at the moment. We blasted out a few oldies last night - stuff I listened to in the late eighties - Robben Ford, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mason Ruffner - was in a bluesy mood.

The eBay seller I bought my amp from also specialises in "classic" audio equipment (handysams). I noticed he currently has a Sansui amp and pre-amp for $445.

We have bought several smaller systems over the years (mini/midi) that can play MP3s and so on, but have not succumbed to a second large system. Most rooms here either have a stereo or speakers from a stereo in them. Music is one of the great pleasures in our lives.
