Is nothing sacred?

In a word, no. I'm with you, Cassandra, I think it's more of a gimmick than anything... However, the classic version will always exist. Because I was brought up in a family with four brothers and four sisters, I grew up playing board and card games, and would welcome a thread discussing some of people's faves over the years... Kinda nerdy, huh? Our lot always had a soft spot for Parker Bothers' games for some reason, and we still play Rook with regularity, Careers, Masterpiece and even Inventors on an odd day... Scrabble and Boggle can be a lot of fun with the right bunch, as well... We also have about five versions of Monopoly, I'm sorry to say, which include Sponge Bob, Star Wars, and Beatleopoly (which really wasn't worth the 50-60 bucks it cost)...
