Exhausting just how diametrically opposed people can be with regards to..well, most
everything. That flick hits me like a bus! Has been a yearly trip to cathar for...hmm, ..I
can’t remember how long. & there’s not much in the story that applies directly to my life.
..Suppose it sinks into my mind, the whole time, in metaphors of coerce n connectivity.
You said: “What a laugh” [?!?]
(Good grief, Cy, I think you’re just bustin’ balls to get a rise outa somebody. I’m not
proud of my lack of restraint but you succeeded.) ..Almost wish db hadn’t made a cameo
in this flick so whooping-it-up wudn’t come across as a das David Baerwald fan response
mechanism. The [pick-up &] apartment party scene was a departure that could have been
staged in one of a hundred different ways, but it plays---sets a cool tone, acts as a bridge.
In my opinion, the arc of descent/ascent leads faithfully where th filmmaker intended.
The Crossing Guard is in my top ten favorite films..to go back to again and again,
Not to feel good, nope, but to b knocked to shit & back again by humankind.
Perhaps you should self-immolate a while, Cy, increase your sensitivity
to dark, captive, cinematic perfection? (…. Scratchin’ my head
:O) Or maybe it’s me who should light m’own self aflame,
& search the skies for signs of more critical analogy.
P.S. Jeez. I nearly posted a quip
& a clip from The Crossing Guard th other night---that would’ve been too weird.
