Basically, she went on to college and could pretty much file the whole thing as a "learning experience." It seemed a pretty neat and nifty ending to something that would ordinarily end up far worse for the woman in a similar situation. But the key to the movie is the way that the various characters interact. There's all kinds of moral ambiguity to navigate, and that makes it a fun one to discuss.
