I realize many here may not feel the same way about Mellencamp and Springsteen, but how grand is it that when Springsteen was given the Kennedy Center award by Obama.
I remember back in 85 or 86 when he was interviewed on the CBS show West 57th Street. He was pissed that so many family farms were being lost while a ton of money was being spent on refurbishing the Statue of Liberty and made a comment that he didn't give a shit if it fell over in the harbor.
Here we have an American that does appreciate the US Constitution, liberty and free speech and a hell raiser to boot and he sang for Springsteen in front of the president.
(Yes, I know someone will bring up that goddamned truck commercial he did, but after reading countless interviews with him on the topic, I sort of understand why he chose to do it - no one would play his current music and radio just blows anymore).
