So those of you who don’t already know the score with regards to medical care in the US can take account of your insurance coverage, etc., …because it hits like a ton o lead when the truth comes out during treatment…

Just opened a billing statement on the way home from the post office tonight:

Get this (& it’s one of several just like it) …

$301,000.00  for [two weeks] stay & top-notch care on the ward. 3 HUNDRED THOU. The cost of a very nice house in the country, for two weeks stay in an excellent hospital.

We’re hangin’ in there, don’t sweat our predicament, as…so far we have good people onboard (social worker and financial advisor, part of the bone marrow network) so we feel, as long as Maya pulls through we can shoulder the co-pay outlay over time. My primary point in sharing this is to give an example of the TRUE costs of healthcare in America today.  The “bill” that is born by the insurer, and often times the hospital, and too often the patient who gets dicked by the insurer in one fashion or another, including the medical waste (oh…the waste), is incredible, inconceivable, exaggeratedly outrageous in design.

Something is broken. Not the Doctors or Nurses, social workers, financial advisors, PCNAs or housekeeping staff, etc., for the most part, …
