Watched The Station Agent for …I don’t know the how many-eth time. Trains & rights-of-way are cool…but I’m not a fanatic, …so it’s got to be the acting, story, setting and score. The score is very good. I’ve known at least two eccentric, outwardly preoccupied and on the volatile verge of broken, sexy mature women like Olivia Harris. ...I liked them both. There needs to be more characters like Joe Oramas around the hood. I’ve run across cats like him too, but it’s a rarity, far and in between. I may have once been so dynamic.
In the film, little Cleo asks Finn, “Are you a midget?” He says no. Not angrily or hurt, just..stoic. So maybe it’s true that dwarfs don’t like the reference. I figured it was just another ‘politically correct’ strike against people just …being. To me, “little person” sounds more like an insult than dwarf or midget. I suppose person is the least offensive, and that is more like how the main support cast sees Finn. (I don’t know a dwarf -- never having had a reason to sport a proper Hollywood entourage, but given the chance) I’d like to think I would immediately recognize him as just a person too.
With a subtlety that marks distinction, Peter Dinklage acts his little ass off. ;o)
