This was done late August of this year. It was really a spectacular climb. I also remember the eruption in 1980. We were on a family picnic in Eastern Oregon when we noticed what looked like a thunderstorm coming in fast. We gathered up our things and started for home, but it became overcast and dark much more quickly than we would normally expect. And it didn't rain. Once we got in radio range, it became clear what had happened. I found it really exciting, and it didn't become clear to me that it was a tragedy for many until a few years later.

The climb was about 4.5 hours up, 3.5-4.0 hours down.
