Can't be bothered with Facebook. My sister-in-law (one of the most tedious people alive - main interests shopping and spending money with a view to telling you how much everything cost) is constantly urging us to get involved. That's a good enough reason to leave well alone.
Went to see Mick Thomas and the Sure Thing last night. I can now see what Peter T. has been on about all these years - absolutely wonderful! He is a real raconteur, both in the stories that his songs tell and the way he engages the audience between songs. I love the very Australian references in his lyrics. He mentions things like LanChoo tea (which my Aunty Margaret still drinks although most Aussies have switched to Dilmah).
The two support acts were also great. The first was from Perth - a four piece called the Jayco Brothers who have just cut their first album in Nashville (although not heavily country tinged). The second support was The Killjoys - a terrific female singer backed by most of the Sure Thing. She also joined Mick Thomas on stage for quite a few songs in his set.
I got to talk to Mick afterwards, especially about Peter T. - both really nice blokes!! So - forget Facebook and get out to see some live music!
