Had a layover in Hell-A this Friday, and it afforded the perfect opportunity to (finally) see Jon Brion's Friday night gig at Largo/Coronet. What a remarkable experience, complete with looped pop songs on multiple instruments, deft duets with Sebastian Steinberg, requests (I recognized Carmine Appice in the audience and thus shouted for "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"), a bluegrass version of "Tiny Dancer," and . . . an audience singalong of "Don't Stop Believin'". I kid you not; those lunatics knew every word of the Journey song. The next-to-last song was a rip roaring version of "Walking Through Walls" from his _Meaningless_ solo album. It included a really long guitar solo, and (Kevin Gilbert fans will like this) a full quote of the solo from Stairway To Heaven.Astonishing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbZXbBnjIpE
