Icon Some parallels to be found? (edit)

As of 3 days ago I had looked at but never really opened the covers of “Galapagos, a Novel.” Maya and I both brought individual short stacks of books with us to read while in our present commune/monastery-like version of lock-down-lite. Book distractions that are among the things she & I will use to independently pass some of the next 3-and-a-half months in rehab/recovery following her BMT. But in the little library-loft directly above the baby grand piano situated in the main living room of “The Lodge” is where we picked-out Galapagos, therein amongst 12 tall dark cherry wood bookshelves chock full of every make and model from paperback to leather-bound. This book so we can share it together, carry it around with us so I can read to her whenever she tires and we have to sit ~ which is like every ten minutes of wandering, 5 minutes often because we use the stairs. So we know every perch on the grounds…or, at least, our asses and backs do ~ and our eyes, I suppose, as you can’t deny the eyes.

Earlier tonight, just after diner, just about halfway through Galapagos, I believe I can see (for the first time) how Vonnegut may have influenced some of David's thinking &/or lyrics (if in any way at all). [bunch of nonsense deleted ~ jeeez] Maybe there are some parallels to be found in both of these prolific writers’ rich anecdotes, …bloodcurdling humor & cynicisms regarding man’s inhumanity to man, and earth’s unearthliness to man, and earth’s unearthliness to earth and man’s unmanliness to earth, and the occasional love that keeps man from eating a bullet in an hour of sorrow, etc.,

it’s just a thought.........
